Harmful Effects of Chemical Abortions

During a chemical abortion a women usually takes two pills; mifepristone and mistoprostol. Mifepristone blocks the uterus from getting progesterone and as a result the lining of the uterus deteriorates and cannot transfer nutrients to the unborn child causing death. The use of this pill is a controversial topic for many reasons including its approval process, inadequate oversight of adverse effects as a result of its use and the simple fact that it is a medication to terminate pregnancy. This drug is being considered to be available over the counter which could lead to dangerous ramifications for women ingesting the pill but also the environment.

The abortion pill can have serious and even fatal side effects on women including sepsis, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, fever, pelvic inflammatory disease, cramping and nausea. Not only is this pill harmful for women taking it but it is harming our animals and planet as well. The usage of this medication results in contaminated medical waste and it needs to be treated as such. And at this time mifepristone and fetal remains are in wastewater causing sterilization of animals, plants and making their way back to humans through water intake and fertilizer.

Vendors of abortions drugs should be required to provide proper waste management material to abortion pill users to prevent this chemical from affecting our animals and water systems. So when a women says “my body, my choice” and uses the abortion pill to terminate her baby she is actually effecting others more than the she knows. There is now a citizens petition to the FDA to stop these drugs from harming people, animals and the planet. If this upsets you please use the link attached to sign the petition.
